The Gender Identity and Diversity Course is a two half-day programme that is fully funded by the Richmond and Wandsworth Council for services/individuals delivering a service within the Richmond and/or Wandsworth area(s).

You can access the course information sheet here. The information sheet provides more information about the learning outcomes and expected impacts of the course.

The aim of the Gender Identity and Diversity Course is to provide an awareness of Gender Identity and Diversity and how this impacts social care practice. This incorporates the issues faced by gender diverse individuals including dealing with harassment and bullying, transitional pathways, legislative framework, and managing single-sex spaces. The course also aims to improve individual and organisational responsibilities within a social care setting.

Participants will be provided with an audit tool and will be asked to complete this between sessions one and two of the course as a flipped learning activity (like a homework activity). The activity provides an opportunity to reflect on how inclusive current practice is, and what changes need to be made practically to reduce oppressive and/or unsafe practice.

Following the course, participants will be given access to resources and practical tools to support the expected impacts. These are intended to act as useful prompts and tools that help facilitate positive change in your organisation.

The dates below set out the dates available for the Gender Identity and Diversity Training. Please note that attendance on each cohort will be capped to 15 candidates, and admissions will be done on a first come first serve basis. Should a cohort be fully booked, please attempt to book on the next available one. Once registered, you will receive an email confirmation of your booking. You will be contacted nearer to the event with information on how to join the sessions.

Notes: The Gender Identity and Diversity Training will run over two sessions, and attendance of both sessions is required for course completion. Please also note that this course is only available for individuals and/or services that deliver a service in Richmond and/or Wandsworth.
