Safer Moving & Positioning
We are running a Safer Moving and Positioning open course at St. Michael & All Angels Church Hall on Wednesday 11th December 2019 between 1pm and 4pm.
Why should I attend this course?
Staff working in health and social care must be appropriately trained in safe moving and positioning to deliver a safe service. Employers have a responsibility to ensure that staff are appropriately trained, and an assessment of competence should follow in the workplace. If you are an individual (not yet employed) attending this course, the course will immensely help with your job prospects.

Safer Moving & Positioning Course Outcomes
• State the basic anatomy of the spine
• List the legislation relevant to moving and positioning
• Identify the role of risk assessments in reducing risk
• Describe ways to maximise independence and reduce risks
• Demonstrate a range of techniques to safely manoeuvre clients
• List the types of equipment suitable for a range of manoeuvres
• List ‘controversial manoeuvres’ and explain the impact of poor practice

Course Date & Time
The course will run on Wednesday 11th December between 1pm and 4pm.
Course Details (Certification and Resources)
At the end of training, attendants will receive a certificate of attendance, course handouts and other useful resources which can be used within the services they work in. If the attendant is an HCPA member, we will also complete their HCPA Claim Form B for them to submit in order to claim funding towards the cost of the training.
Cost of the Course
The cost of the course would be £45 + VAT per person for a single booking and £40 + VAT per person for multiple bookings.
Will I get any help with the costs?
If you are a member of HCPA, you may be able to access the Mandatory Fund towards the cost of the course. You should contact HCPA directly regarding this via their email leighannreed@hcpa.info.
